What services do you offer and what do they cost?
I have a variety of services to best meet your needs: Interactive Virtual Tours, Video Informercials, Photo Slide Shows, etc. It really boils down to choosing the best tools to accomplish the task at hand.
The best value service I have is a web-based photo slide show combined with a bundle of features the agent can easily manage once my work is complete. Some of those features are:
-
•Three versions always available on line: Branded, Unbranded, and MLS Compliant.
-
•The freedom to edit portions of the tour without me being involved.
-
•Downloading & emailing of tours at will, printing flyers, and regular statistical “hit” reports of internet traffic emailed directly to the agent.
-
•A “tour” never expires, period. When a property sells, please let me know so I can make it dormant.
Are There Additional Fees?
-
• Possibly. I do charge mileage at $.55/mile.
-
•Properties exceeding 4000 square feet require a site inspection prior to the onsite shoot, which might affect my fee. Fees are always determined before I accept a job.
-
•Commercial properties absolutely require a pre-shoot site inspection.
How did you get into Real Estate Photography?
I fell into it. Eight years ago I was looking to buy a house for my mother. My real estate agent, who knew my professional background, was dissatisfied with her virtual tour provider and asked if I could get her out of a tight spot. I didn’t know what a “ virtual tour ” was, but I was certain my video equipment could produce wonders. I quickly learned a video camera was the absolute worst tool for the task (file sizes too big; download speeds too slow), and the digital still camera was the best tool (small file sizes, quick download, good image quality). Now, internet technology growth allows me to use the best features of both kinds of cameras to produce attention holding marketing tools for the real estate agent.
Can I Produce User-interactive Virtual Tours?
Yes. They are fun to make, and are particularly well suited to showcasing a variety of locations within a property. This kind of tour has lost popularity, because many producers didn’t understand how to make effective use of them, and internet social networking sites made the home video camera hugely popular. I’ve been incorporating portions of virtual tours into videos, because video has so many more distribution options. Fortunately, internet technology has recently resolved some distribution issues. This kind of tour is starting look attractive once again.
What is the Production Process?
-
•Involves four steps. Accept assignment. Collect media (Site images, Agent photos, logos, music license, etc). Edit. Deliver on line.
-
-
The Slide Show process is as follows:
-
•Onsite photo shoot.
-
•I select 20-40 quality images that best represent a listing. Every property is a bit different, and the number of images needed to represent it well varies. These are placed into a web page where the images can be viewed individually or as a slide presentation.
-
•Once the shows are uploaded to the internet I send you an email containing all the links and additional information you need to distribute. You simply copy and paste the links where ever you want. That could be MLS, your web site, an email, or your favorite social and/or business networking pages. Your listing will already be linked to Realtor.com and could be linked to a number of other ever changing search engines. You will also have direct access to the slide show to edit image order, descriptive text, and a few other things.

Video Infomercials and real Virtual Tours
-
•The workflow process is different, can take longer, and may affect my fee. A phone conversation should clarify any concerns and allow me to provide a clear quote.
I want to publish a photo you took of one of my listings in a magazine. Is this all right?
-
Absolutely, but:
-
•Contact me first so I can provide a copy at a resolution appropriate for print publication.
-
•The photo must give photo credit to me.
-
•The magazine must be dedicated to real estate advertising and service a local marketing area.
-
•If the magazine is a trade publication intended for regional or national distribution, please discuss with me prior to submitting the image.
-
Copyright:
My fees represent time and effort involved in producing a marketing tool for you. I retain the copyright on photos and videos I record to produce this marketing tool. These images may not be used for any other purpose without written permission.
Other Information:
-
Turn Around: Slide shows are usually online within 48 hours. Videos and virtual tours take longer because of additional steps in the editing process.
-
Do you do portrait or wedding photography?
-
-
No. Architectural and product photography are the only two forms of the art in which I have a professional business interest.
